It is built from reclaimed ironwood and hand-cut green Sukabumi stone, with a sunken lounge pavilion for slow afternoons and a stone bathtub that opens onto a walled garden of ferns. A morning in the Rice Terrace Villa
At six, the valley is still white with mist. You hear the farmers before you see them, calling across the terraces. Your host leaves coffee on the bale without a word. By the time the sun clears the palms, you are in the pool, and the terraces below have turned from grey to the brightest green you have ever seen.
